Witch Wardrobe. No Lion.

Today was hot as can be out so I slipped into a little white top I made a few years ago. It has little blue flowers and vines on it.
I wish I knew how to add photos to this blog.  Unfortunately I can't see a way to do it so all the outfits are over on the photo page.

A casual day at home calls for a t-shirt I silkscreened a

This is the outfit I wore all day on Saturday at an SCA event and I pretty much made it all.

What do you do when you finally finish knitting your first sweater, but it is the middle of July and too hot to wear it?  You wait until after dark of course.  So here I am in my sweater and teal skirt that I altered last week and my black sandals.

Today I was at an archery event and didn't get to do an outfit. But I'll make up for it.

In this triple degree heatwave, my only thought was 'why don't I have any shorts?" I wore out my favorite denim shorts years ago, and never found any I liked that fit me since.  In short I had given up on shorts.  But today I had an epiphany. I had a pair of stretchy sand brown pants that I grew sick of a long time ago. But I hate to pitch anything that is still useful. So today I pulled them out of the drawer, grabbed my scissors, and chopped them off at the knees. I was hoping I could just get away with rolling them up, but they just as quickly unroll themselves.  So I'll need to hem them.

And I know just what blouse I want to wear them with too. My navy with white polka dots hankerchief blouse. Only it's gone missing. So no photo today.  I'll add a photo in once I get the shorts hemmed and find the blouse.

I also lost a silver star off of each black sandal. So I replaced the missing stars by gluing on two red stars instead.  I have my bling back.

Someone gave me an adorable vintage denim skirt, thinking it would be plenty big. But after a quick glance I knew I'd have to alter it. Now after cutting it all apart, I see I don't have enough repurposed denim to do a decent job with it. I need a piece wide enough to make the back side of the skirt, so it looks like I'll have to set it aside until I get to the fabric store.

This skirt (see photo gallery) was the last new item I bought before beginning this journey of indie fashions. I didn't want to wait a whole year to wear it again. I'd already waited two weeks to save enough money to buy it.  So after wondering how to remedy the situation for a few days, I realized I could make it even better by adding beads and sequins to it. Oftentimes the difference between inexpensive clothes and designer fashions, is that someone took the time to sew on trim or do embroidery or something. It's not brain surgery. You just need patience, beads, sequins, thread, a beading needle and time.

Today it was both ridiculously hot and I wasn't feeling all that well. So to keep things simple I wore the green t-shirt that I've added an embroidered flower to with a black skirt I already had. I'm still aiming for every outfit being 100% made by me, or embellished by me or repurposed by me, but I'm not there quite yet.

I wanted to try out my new bloomers around town, so I threw a skirt over them and a t-shirt and went to the library, the park, the craft store, the gas station and the grocery store. And I think they are a bit too long, so I'm going to put elastic around the knees I think, when time allows.  I did take photos but I think I'll  post them tomorrow as it's already late and the camera is somewhere with the library books.

I love the way it feels wearing these full pants. Very romantic and floaty.
