Little White Top Friday 25/365

Picture
I just made the top, not the skirt. I hope to get more skirts made soon.
The thing I'm holding is a rainstick I made from a gourd.

19/365 Sat. SCA Event

Picture
Sometimes I really do spend the whole day in garb. Today was such a day. The skirt I made in the 80's. The blouse and corset I made a few years ago. The belt is quite recent.

14/365 Hand knit Confetti Sweater and Teal Skirt

Picture
Here is the knitted sweater I finished a few weeks ago paired with my teal skirt with the skully patch. I call it the Confetti Sweater because the rainbow yarn has little speckles of color in it. I had to wear it at night because we are having a July heat wave.

13/365 Chicken Hat and Cut-offs

Picture
At the archery range I wore my new cut-off pants that I hemmed last night, and a hat I'm still crocheting. Today I figured out why this project is so hard.  I never wear just one outfit per day.  I wear one at home, one for outtings and another for any sports activity. It's going to take awhile before every outfit every day will be unique. At least for now I'm aiming at one outfit a day that is all things I made myself. Sorry I forgot to take a head to toe shot of myself. I was super busy.

12/365 Stretchy Brown Pants become cut-off shorts.
Since I ended up hemming these at midnight, I don't have a photo yet.

11/365 Altered Denim Skirt

Picture
This skirt is on hold until I can get enough denim fabric to cut a new back piece.  It's mighty breezy the way it is.

Silk-screened t-shirt and Beaded Skirt 10/365

Picture
I recently bought this skirt at Walmart and was a little sad that I'd have to wait for a whole year to wear it, and still fit in with this project's parameters.  Then I realized if I embellished it with sequins and beads, it would fit right in.

Embroidered T-shirt 9/365

Picture
Since I've done even more embroidery to the green t-shirt, I thought I'd wear that today.  I purchased the black skirt a long time ago, but I hope to veer away from off the rack clothing as soon as time and weather allow.  It was boiling hot today. I'm also wearing a hair barette I made.

8/365 Bloomers Go For A Spin

Picture
I pared my bloomers that I made from scratch with this pink gypsy skirt I plan to alter soon and a teal top. I'm still having to rely on some of my old clothes until I get more made. This outfit may look a bit dorky but it's so much fun to spin around in.

Apron Makeover 7/365

I painted flowers on this apron and cut the commercial banner off the top and redid the straps.

Bloomies 6/365

Picture
Well now I'm way out of my comfort zone. I don't know whether to laugh or cry or if I'm just frustrated from sewing these from scratch. I put on the cherry top on this nice hot day hoping I could take a photo of the top and the bloomers for todays outfit. Only I didn't get the bloomin' bloomers done until after dark and I'm not thrilled with the way they look.  But here they are, because I needed to post an outfit today and I don't want to let anyone down. Go ahead and laugh if you want. At least they are comfortable.

Kokopelli and I: Outfit 5/365

Picture
Kokopelli T-shirt Wrap skirt, sandals, maribou headband.
One of my favorite motifs is the Southwestern petroglyph Kokopelli. Many moons ago I had painted kokopelli on a brown t-shirt but the paint was almost gone, leaving just a faint white line. So today I embroidered in double running stitch over the white kokopelli and clay pot.  I love the way it turned out.
The skirt is another version of how to tie the dress I remade a few days ago.
The maribou headband was made from a feather boa.
Black sandals.

Day 4 Same Skirt, silkscreened T-shirt

Picture
Here is the skirt from yesterday paired with a purple T-shirt I silkscreened with two cats.  I'm wearing a necklace I strung and in the back is a barrette I made.

Day 3 Pirate Patch Skirt and Plarn Hat

Picture
This was one of my favorite tiered skirts and I loved it to death. It was getting threadbare, and one day as I was going down the hall I caught it on something and ripped a hole into it the size of my hand. It has been sitting in the garage ever since. I couldn't figure out an easy way to fix it. Then I realized that if I used a seam ripper to carefully unstitch all around the torn area, I could remove the rectangle of fabric and use that for a pattern.  But which fabric to use? Black or blue or a floral or what? But my eye landed on a skully fat quarter I recently got for .99. So why not make a pirate patch? It will be my own private pun. In the photo it looks like a patch pocket. I could have made it into a pocket, but I just now thought of it.  I didn't throw the torn piece away either. I used it to patch five or six small tears in the fabric by zig-zagging the patch to the inside behind each hole.  I have a bit of the skull fabric left, so I may make a belt or something to wear with the skirt.

The t-shirt is fairly new but had a few grease spots. So I started embroidering it with green on green designs. Each day I will leave it in wearable shape, in case I need to wear it again. That way I can work on it at my leisure.

And I'm particularly proud of my PLARN hat that I just finished today. It was made from colorful shopping bags that would have gone into a landfill had I not snagged them and cut them into strips and made this cool hat out of them.

And I'm wearing the navy heels with a few more beads glued on. When I put the shoes on they were lumpy and I realized I had dropped some beads into them when I was glueing. HAHA.

More about this dress in my blog. I also made the headband long ago, the necklace a while ago and embellished the shoes with silver metal hearts today.

Day 1/365

Picture
Here is the outfit from day 1. I haven't had time to make anything new yet. This was all stuff I already had on hand. Still I like it and never thought to wear it together before. Here are the shoes with the first few items glued on. I'll keep adding more until I run out of space.
